Let your light shine

'You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.' Matthew 5:14

Our New Principal

In September we will be welcoming our new Principal, Rachel PerkinsMrs Rachel Perkins, into school. She is currently working in Vietnam but will be flying into Britain during this term and we will hopefully be seeing her in and around school in July.

Rachel qualified as a primary school teacher in 1994 from the University of Wales, where she gained her Bachelor of Education Honours Degree. Her first teaching appointment was at Howell’s Preparatory School. That was followed by her first international posting in Tanzania, Africa, followed by her second posting, at St Christopher’s School in Penang, Malaysia. During that time she held various posts including Literacy and Maths Subject Leader.

Rachel moved back to the UK in 2002 and successfully gained her National Professional Qualification for Headship and became Executive Headteacher for 4 years for the Kingsbridge Area Federation (leading 2 Church of England Schools at the same time). During that time Rachel was awarded a National Headteacher award, nominated by the parents and children of the Federation.

She was the Head of Primary and Early Years at The Regent’s International School in Bangkok for 4 years. She is now the Primary and Kindergarten Principal at the Australian International School in Saigon, Vietnam. At AIS Rachel leads over 650 students and 80 staff members over 4 campuses. Rachel is passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential and working with the school community and families to enable every child to be the best they can be.

She is originally from Yorkshire, and is married to Karl, (also a primary school teacher) and has two children Tilly (19) and Max (18) who are both attending University. Rachel's hobbies include singing in choirs, crafting, travelling and enjoying the great outdoors. She is presently house hunting in the area and looking forward to enjoying a cooler climate and being closer to her family and relatives.

Rachel is delighted to have been offered the role of Principal at Lambourn C of E School and is very excited to join our school community and will continue the good practice already in place and move the school forward strategically.
