Our nursery is very popular within our community; some spaces are occasionally available for out of catchment children. We provide a good standard of education with excellent opportunities to engage with nature. We spend 70% of our time within the outdoor world; all children have their own wellies and waterproofs daily.
Outdoor Learning is active learning in the outdoors
During learning outside children learn through what they do, through what they encounter and through what they discover. Children learn about the outdoors, themselves and each other, while also learning outdoor skills. Active learning readily develops the learning skills of enquiry, experiment, feedback, reflection, review and cooperative learning.
Outdoor Learning is real learning
Not only does Outdoor Learning happen in the natural environments where participants can see, hear, touch and smell the real thing, it also happens in an arena where actions have real results and consequences. Outdoor Learning can help to bring many school subjects alive while also providing experiential opportunities.
We pride ourselves in bringing the children into an environment where there are no walls, stuffy central heated enclosures or false sensory experiences. Our children enjoy using their senses to find out about the world and each other. This continues into reception, Y1 and Y2 at present.
