Lambourn Imagination Library

Lambourn Imagination Library promotes early childhood literacy by providing free age-appropriate books for 0-5 year olds. It is an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library UK. Children receive one age appropriate book per month through the post, personally addressed to the child. If a child is registered at birth then they will receive 60 books by the time they reach five.

All children in the Lambourn Parish Council area aged under 5 can register.  You can register online at www.lambournimaginationlibrary.co.uk or pick up a form from School reception, Nursery or the public library in Lambourn.  Lambourn School Nursery encourages all children attending the Nursery to join the scheme.

It is free for children - there is no charge to register or receive the books for families. However, I am responsible for the charges for the books sent out in the area and I fundraise to meet the costs. The books are provided in partnership with Penguin UK and procurement and packing is managed by the Dollywood Foundation UK. The current cost per year per child is approximately £25 for 12 books.

The scheme was created by Dolly Parton in the USA then replicated in the UK in 2007. Over 27,000 children are registered in the UK with local affiliate branches of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Please see http://uk.imaginationlibrary.com/ for more information.
